Apologies - it's been a while since our last post as we've been a bit light on wifi opportunities.
Lake Wanaka has been one of our favourite spots in the South Island. We stayed on the campsite at Glendhu Bay as planned, but in a cabin aka 'shed with a bed' rather than potentially leaky tent. We chickened out on camping as a big storm was forecast. As it turned out the weather was great, apart from the chilly mornings.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lakeside campsite, venturing off for walks during the day. The area filled with glaciers, mountains and lakes was breathtaking. A particular highlight was Rob Roy Glacier Walk. After navigating a bumpy 40km gravel track by car, the 12.5km walk was stunning, with a great view of the glacier and its melting waterfalls.
We also visited local organic vineyard - Rippon - for a great wine tasting with some purchases that didn't involve Sauvignon Blanc or Pinor Noir!
