The Coromandel is the north east of the north island, famous for Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach. The cove is only accessible by boat or track. The track gave views to a great number of small islands which was fabulous.
Our AirBnB host had provided us with a shovel to take to Hot Water Beach. It was all very intriguing on how the hot water would present itself. We were led to believe we should dig along the tide line at low tide to find ourselves a hot water spring. We decided to stay away from the crowds and dig a bit of hole and see what happened - I only managed to create a hole filled with cold water.
Eventually I headed over to the crowds to find out if they were more successful. It turned out the hot water was simply seeping out in various points on the beach, and the trick was to dig your hole downstream of a (very) hot water leak and fill yourself a diy spa.
