From Dunedin, we headed north east to the lakes and Mount Cook with a quick stop to see the Moeraki Boulders. The drive was spectacular, taking in the Waliaki dam - one of the five dams in the region - Lakes Pukaki and Lake Tekapo. We stayed in Lake Tekapo exploring Mount John for stunning 360 views of the McKenzie mountain ranges.
A cold front arrived which brought SNOW (to around 1200m) in Summer! This made for even more breathtaking photos of the area but was a little chilly. We had originally planned to camp near Mount Cook, however had decided against it - a lucky move.
The sun shone as we walked the beautiful Hooker Valley Track which lead to the foot of Mount Cook. Sian took her new GoPro and recorded some footage of our walk - which hopefully gives a flavour of the terrain.
