We drove north from Chrystalls beach to the 'Edinburgh of the South' - Dunedin. On the way there we stopped off to walk to the tunnel beach (through an actual tunnel) and came very close up to another sleepy sea lion.

The next morning, we drove up the Otago peninsula and visited the Royal Albatross Centre. We had hoped to see penguins but none were visible that day, We lunched at the beautiful St Clairs beach, then climbed the world's steepest residential street on a full stomach. We then joined my cousin Amanda and her family for a trip to her local pub and the stadium to see the local team 'The Highlanders' beat the Queensland Reds. Quite a close match but the right result in the end and great to catch up with family.

Our Airbnb superhosts in Dunedin - Stephen and Amanda - sent us off with gifts of local cheeses and directions for our next stop.
