NZ - Frans Josef and Fox Glaciers

We arrived at the tiny town of Whataroa, north of Frans Josef, in very damp conditions. The following day was glorious, perfect to raid the trips and tours budget and treat ourselves to a helicoper ride of the glaciers. We had the front seat view in our five seater helicopter which was worth every cent, absolutely fantastic. We flew past the The White Mountains filmed for the lighting of the beacons scene in Lord of the Rings.

We visited both the Frans Josef and Fox Glaciers on foot before heading south to our next destination to Lake Wanaka; on the way we did the Blue Pools track
