Fiordland receives around 11 metres of rain per year, so you pretty much expect it to rain. We had nearly half a day of persistent rain during our journey from Paradise to Te Anau, however once we arrived the sky cleared and we had some lovely sunshine whilst we visited Lake Manapouri.
We headed up to Milford Sound for a cruise, kayak and tour of the Discovery Centre. Whilst kayaking around the bay we were excited to see the rare Fiordland crested penguin, just 30 pairs nest in the bay. The Discovery Centre is a floating underwater observatory which gives you an insight to what is living beneath the unique waters.
